The Go To Gift

A quick post to show a fun, easy, and inexpensive gift!

Supplies:

Jar candle from Wal-Mart
Cricut & Vinyl
Ribbon

Remove the store lable - which removed very easily BTW!

Apply vinyl lettering, tie on a ribbon for a cute touch and VOILA!!

These candles will serve as hostess gifts for our Thanksgiving lunches.  I will certainly be keeping a stash of these!  So quick and easy - and who doesn't love a candle!!  Boss's Day, stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, college/wedding gifts ... you get the idea!!

Hello All!

Long time, no blog - I know!!  I promise to do better.

Ok, moving on :)  So...I am that chick that reads LOTS of blogs, oh yes, I'm addicted.  If you have a blog, I probably read it!  I love getting inspired by other people's ideas - and I sorta like to hear about other people's lives.  Weird, huh!  I promise I'm not stalking anyone :)  Some gals are weekly bloggers (wow!), and some are even daily bloggers (DOUBLE wow!).  Me, I'm more of a pick a day that I don't have a ba-jillion other things to do!!

During my hiatus from blogging I of course worked on lots of customer orders (Halloween & other) ...

Please disregard the mis-matched purple ribbon in her hair!  I realized it didn't match afterwards and we changed to another shade of purple before going into public :)

MK & I at the Pumpkin Patch.  I love pumpkin appliques - they are great for the entire Fall season!

Halloween themed name shirt

Pumpkin Trio with initials.  Love the matching skirt.  The lighting is kinda crazy in this pic, so you can't see the initals inside the pumpkins :)

**Notice the fabric rosette hairbows MK is wearing in the pumpkin patch picture (green fabric rosette) and in the pumpkin trio picture (orange dot fabric rosette).  These are so stinkin' cute and really add to any outfit.  Get yours today from Modern Mamas!**

I added another toy to my collection!  Alas, the Cricut Expression!  Lots of ideas - I'll post some available items under the Crafy Stuff section of the blog soon!!

Treat cups complete with names for all 18 of MK's K-3 classmates!

Sadly, I completely skipped the month of October in blog world, but I had to share these :)  We 'Pinked Out' the school for breast cancer awareness!  Brownie loves to have her picture taken too!

Thanksgiving and Christmas orders are really pouring in.  Please order in advance so you can get lots of wear out of your super cute clothes :)

Student of the Week

My cup overflows...

Yep, this is going into that bin o' stuff that will eventually be a super cute and crafty scrapbook!!

MK didn't go to school today due to a virus.  When I went by to pick up her nap cover and found this in her cubbie I almost shed a tear.  The little things :)

Love this one!  We will be offering this dress, along with some other knit dresses - monogrammed of course!

Baby shower gifts for little Weston who should be arriving very soon!

And finally, a beach outfit for MK.

Drum roll please ... I am proud to announce that MK won the 'special big prize' for being the first to say her memory verse at school.  We practiced a lot and rewarded with M&Ms :)  She was so proud!!

"K-Free"

We are officially in K-3 (“K-free”)! I can’t believe it. Even though MK was in daycare/school during the summer I still had that feeling in the pit of my stomach and the lump in my throat as I left my big girl for her first day in K-3.

Where does the time go?

Every day I am amazed by her thoughts and insight to life, and her amazing ability to comprehend new things she learns!

I’m her best friend she tells me…

A classic “my tummy hurts” picture. That’s actually what she said, but I’m pretty sure she hasn’t learned to play hooky YET.

Here she is at her school, standing at the door to “K-free”…

Note the scripture on the door sign behind her. I love her school for so many reasons!!!!

I will praise You, God, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Crafty Stuff!

We are always brainstorming, getting new ideas, and being inspired!  Somtimes ideas for
STUFF comes as a new twist on an old thing, and sometimes it's a product of our inventive minds (scary!!).

This is sort of a little of both.  I'm sure you've all seen this idea 'around', but you didn't know exactly where to get some of your own.  This is such an easy peasy fun project.  I love it when 'work' is fun :)

Fabric covered thumbtacks ...

Awesome gifts for a 'Thank You', house warming, college student, or just because.  These are soooooo cute.  ENDLESS possibilities with all of the fabric options.  A unique way to hold things in place at the office, great for bulletin boards, etc.  Mix-n-match, be creative!!

Fabric covered magnets...

Available in various sizes.  Again, great for lots of occasions, or even a gift to SELF!  Imagine your fridge with these.  I know my fridge is getting a magnet makeover!  Also great for offices or classrooms.

Last, but not least, fabric covered pony tail holders ...

And because everything must be personalized, they can also be monogrammed!

Check these lovely new items out by visiting the Crafty Stuff link on the right sidebar at Modern Mamas

I know, I know, two posts in two days!  Are you proud of us?!

Once Upon A Time...

There was a beautiful little girl (with a really sweet mommy ;)) and they had lots of fun playing together outside on hot summer days.  MK has actually been requesting this 'Once upon a time' story at nap/bed time :)

While we do spend most of our time showing photos of our sewing projects, I wanted to take a moment from the hustle and bustle of work and busy schedules to share a snippet from our *pigtail weekend*.

=

I love summer time!  And fun days like this!  Memories (*tear*)...

Her MAD face!  Love it!

Posing :)

Pig tails & flip flops - that's what it's all about :)

Patch It Up!

This week's design of the week (yes, we're running a little behind!) - a modified square patch.  Shown here in great boy colors for summer, but could easily be transformed into a girlie design!

Patches are a great way to jazz up a simple monogram.  We love the stacked monogram!

Ideas...

~ Patch applique shirt paired with shorts (boy or girl) for the boutique look
~ Little boy tees to be worn with swim shorts
~ Unique design for baby gifts (burp cloth, onesie, layette gown, bib, etc.)
~ Patriotic items (red/white fabric with blue trim/monogram; or blue/white fabric with red trim/monogram)
